Jess - Finding Strength in Every Day

Jess - Finding Strength in Every Day

People often ask me how I do it all.

The truth is, I don’t always feel like I have it all together.

I’m a mum to two beautiful boys, and while being their mum is a huge part of who I am, life doesn’t always look the way I imagined it would.

Raising a son with a disability comes with challenges that many people never see. Hospital appointments, therapies, constant planning and adapting to the unexpected are all part of our everyday life. It can be overwhelming, exhausting and, at times, incredibly difficult. There are days when things don’t go to plan, when I feel stretched in every direction, and when simply getting through the day takes everything I have.

Alongside being a mum, I work hard to support my family and make sure both my boys have what they need. Like so many mothers, I spend a lot of time putting everyone else first, often without stopping to think about what I need myself.

For a long time, looking after myself always came last.

Eventually, I realised that taking time to move my body wasn’t selfish. It was something I needed to do for me.

Whether it’s a gym session, a walk or simply an hour to focus on myself, movement helps me clear my head, build my strength and find a little space in a life that can sometimes feel overwhelming. It reminds me that I’m a person beyond my responsibilities, and that my own wellbeing matters too.

I’ve learned that strength isn’t always about how much you can lift or how fast you can run.

Sometimes, strength is getting up when you’re exhausted.

It’s finding a way forward when life feels harder than you expected.

It’s showing up for your children, supporting your family and learning that you deserve to show up for yourself, too.

I’m still figuring it all out. I have good days and hard days, just like everyone else. But I’ve come to understand that being strong doesn’t mean having everything under control. It means continuing to show up, even when things aren’t easy.

If sharing my story reminds even one woman that she isn’t alone, that she’s allowed to make time for herself, and that she’s stronger than she realises, then it’s worth sharing.

Because life doesn’t have to be perfect for us to keep moving forward.

And no matter what life asks of us…

We’re all Built For More.
